Thanksgiving

"O, come let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!" Psalm 95:1-2

As Joshua approached his seventh birthday, I remember telling him, "Did you know that it is a tradition that every seven years on your birthday it is your turn to give gifts to people instead of receive gifts on those birthdays as a way of thanking people for being in your life?" For a brief moment, I think he actually believed me! I vaguely remember his eyes widening in horror and then skepticism.

So, here it is - my 55th birthday - and I'm loving this psalm! It may not be a birthday divisible by seven, but it sure feels good to give thanks to God for the gift of life, family, friends and colleagues. Today is a day I need to think intentionally about the gifts I can give back to God.

And, if you happen to see me, you can ask me where your present is - and I will have something to give you, too! Thank you friends and family for being part of my life. You are blessings to me!
