Meeting Christ

"What would happen if we took seriously when we say, 'I can treat every person I meet as Christ....' Each person I meet has a word of salvation for me."              (Brother Dietrich Reinhart, OSB, as quoted in Illuminating the Bible: The Making of the Saint John's Bible)

God's love

"Longer than there've been fishes in the ocean,
Higher than any bird ever flew,
Longer than there've been stars up in the heaven,
I've been in love with you."
(lyrics to "Longer" by Dan Fogelberg, heard on Pandora today)

Lead us

"Lead us."
(The response of a ten-year old girl when the pastor asked
congregational members during worship what each felt were
the most important words in the Lord's Prayer.)

Ash Wednesday

I wasn't going to do a Lenten blog this year. I just didn't feel as though I had the words.  Sometimes words get in the way of reflection.

However, back in January, instead of a resolution, I chose a word for the year. The word is "listen." My plan for this Lenten journal is to "listen" and post a word, sentence, or paragraph from something I heard during the day and then to take a photograph - or find one a photograph I've taken -  to accompany those words.

Here we go.  Lent 2014.
