All

"And in you [Abraham] all the families of the earth shall be blessed." Genesis 12:3b

I have heard this passage before, read it before. Today I noticed something new. I observe what God does NOT say: And in you Abraham, all the families of the earth except...
  • those that live in cities
  • those that live in the country
  • those that live in the suburbs
  • Jewish families
  • Muslim families
  • Christian families
  • Hindu families
  • families of non-believers
  • families with one parent
  • families with divorced parents
  • families with 2 parents of the same gender
  • families with children
  • families without children
  • families with grandparents as the head of the household
  • families who are Republicans
  • families who are Democrats
  • rich families
  • poor families
  • lazy families
  • hard-working families
God tells Abraham that ALL the families will be blessed. No exceptions.

I give thanks to you Mother and Father of us all - for my family, my church family, the human family, for members of families that came before us and for families that will be here years from now. Thank you for blessing families and for the multitude of gifts families have. Help us all to see our relatedness to each other - and learn how to work together to serve each other and you.
