Light

Illuminator,
Shining on what was hidden
Revealing the truth.

Radiate through us

After dinner the other day, we left the restaurant
and stood talking on the sidewalk.
In an instant, a shower of light flew overhead,
A tail radiating from the source.
What joy rose within me to see this unexpected light!

Radiate through us
Like the light from a meteor flashing through the sky
So others may experience the joy
Of knowing you!

[Lots of wonderful "r" words. What would you use? Run with us, rejoice with us, renew us, re-create in us, restore us, remain with us, repair us, replenish us, revive us, rouse us...the list is endless!)

Light

"For once you were darkness, but now in the Lord you are light. Live as children of the light --." Ephesians 5:8

Stumbling along,
Trying to find your way,
Without an internal compass
To guide you -
No light to show the way.

Loving father,
Listens attentively,
Asking questions (little lights) so you
Can find your own answers,
So you can find your way.

Nicodemus

"Now there was a Pharisee named Nicodemus, a leader of the Jews. He came to Jesus by night...." John 3:1-2a

I.
Secretive meeting -
Pharisee leader seeks out
A rebel of sorts,
In the dark,
Unseen.
There is comfort in being invisible,
Yet, he sits with the One
Who is the Light of the World.

Come out into the light, Nicodemus.

II.
Temple uproar -
The rebel's arrest seemed imminent,
Was thwarted momentarily
And angry Pharisees ask why.
But one Pharisee, Nicodemus,
Raises a question of justice,
(Testing the waters, maybe?)
Causing his judgmental peers
To briefly wonder if has fallen
For this man's deception.

Come out into the light, Nicodemus.

III.
Christ crucified -
This man appears at the
Foot of the cross.
In the light.
With myrrh and aloes.
Perhaps those words
He heard at the rebel's feet
Ring now in his ears,
"For God so loved the world..."
And his fear of the light is taken away.

Live, live now in the Light, Nicodemus!
